Born and raised in Toronto, Penny delighted in the influence of her creative mother, artist Ruth Lowe.
“When I was a child, my mother and I used to sit on the beach and she would say “tell me what colors you see, sweetheart”. She would help me look beyond the obvious, through the many layers of nature. She created beauty throughout her life and my mothers work inspires me to this day”.
“While I have always been interested in capturing the emotion of nature around me, I didn’t begin taking art instruction until 2004. Only after retiring from a busy career that had started in fashion, moved through video production, event management and lastly, corporate communications, did I have time to devote myself to my love of art.”
“I have had the pleasure of being taught by many talented artists. Brian Atyeo, Linda Kemp, Rod Prouse, Andrea Mossop, Debra Jackson have all influenced my work. In 2006 I was ecstatic when my abstract “Breaking Free” was chosen for the juried Colour and Form Society.”
Penny’s work has also been greatly influenced by the beauty of Tuscany where she has vacationed for several summers along with wildly abandoned colors of the Virgin Islands where she and her husband winter.
“It is my hope to leave my children and grandchildren work they will love and treasure as my mother did for me.”
